Quotables

Sammy Sosa (Chicago Cubs outfielder)

I remember this ballpark because a lot of superstar players played here. I'm going to have a lot of memories. A lot of people have had success at this ballpark.

Sometimes when you're not swinging the bat very well, you want to go to a place where you have had success.

Jimmy Haynes (Reds pitcher)

When I play on the same field as those guys who won championships, it means a lot. It's a little different now ... but it's definitely been fun.

Barry Larkin (Reds shortstop)

It's where I've played my entire career. I've had some good experiences here.

Yeah, I'll miss it, simply because it's the only place I've ever played. I'll definitely miss it.

The changes made this year have given the ballpark some character. I like the way it is right now.

Bob Boone (Reds manager)

If you're moving from your three-bedroom house to a new nice house in a real nice neighborhood, you're going to be excited.

Yeah, all my kids grew up here, so there will always be memories, but at the same time, you're excited about the new place.

All of my memories about playing have to do with the people I played with and not necessarily the places. So I tend to remember the people, and not the stadiums.

Aaron Boone (Reds third baseman)

This is where everything started for me. The only place I've known. I tend to be real sentimental.

Although it's so different now with the grass and the outfield knocked out. I think more so, it makes you realize we're getting close to moving into that new stadium, and that's exciting.

I kind of liked all those stadiums like Riverfront, Three Rivers, Veterans Stadium.

Fred McGriff (Chicago Cubs first baseman)

I've enjoyed it this year. The field's been great. It's a little tough to hit homers in center field. Other than that, it's all right.

It used to be, the ball just flew out of here. And with the turf field, ground balls got out to the outfield. I was one of my favorite places to hit.

It was similar to Pittsburgh and St.Louis. All those old stadiums were similar. It was a great place to hit.

You always enjoyed coming to Cincinnati.
