CLEVELAND - Omar Vizquel wants to play a 12th season in Cleveland - but says he is not worrying about whether he will.
"Not really," the nine-time Gold Glove shortstop said Sunday when asked if he thinks the next two weeks will be his last in an Indians uniform.
"I want to stay here, but I have to see what their plan is and what kind of contract it is," Vizquel said. "I feel like they have a good young team here ready to win, to go for it all."
General manager Mark Shapiro has already stated that he, too, wants the 37-year-old Vizquel to return - but is not certain if the price is too steep.
"There is no other team I really want to play for," said Vizquel, who could become a free agent if Cleveland does not pick up the $5 million option for 2005.
ASTROS: The team purchased the contract of catcher Chris Tremie from Triple-A New Orleans, and optioned right-hander Kirk Bullinger to New Orleans.
Tremie was hitting .241 with two homers and 24 RBI in 69 games for New Orleans. Bullinger was 1-0 with a 6.16 ERA.
GIANTS: Barry Bonds rested Sunday. He was exhausted after hitting homers in the previous two games.
"Barry's legs are heavy, and his last at-bats Saturday were pretty much wasted," Giants coach Felipe Alou said. "I talked him into playing earlier (Sunday), but he said he'd see how he felt."
