LOUISVILLE - Jeff Deardorff had a three-run home run and Donzell McDonald added a two-run shot as the Columbus Clippers beat the Louisville Bats 8-1 in International League play Sunday night.
Columbus starter Chien-Ming Wang (4-1) held the Bats (64-73) to one run, giving up three hits and two walks while striking out six over six innings.
The Clippers (74-63) got on the scoreboard in the first with Michael Vento's RBI double and Deardorff's homer. Kevin Reese had an RBI triple in the second and later scored when Louisville starter Damian Moss (5-12) balked. McDonald's home run came in the fourth.
Moss allowed eight runs over four innings, giving up six hits and three walks while striking out three. Juan Cerros, Mike Matthews and Brian Reith combined for three shutout innings of relief.
Kenny Kelly had an RBI double in the second to provide the only run for Louisville. Brad Halsey and Jason Anderson didn't allow a run in relief for Columbus.
