KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Mark Teixeira hit his 30th homer, Manny Alexander added a two-run double and the Texas Rangers won their eighth straight game Saturday night with a 5-3 victory over the Kansas City Royals.
The Rangers matched their longest winning streak of the season and remained tied with Boston for the AL wild-card lead. They trail first-place Oakland by a half-game in the AL West.
Texas starter Mickey Callaway gave up only two runs and five hits but was lifted after 4 2/3 innings.
Red Sox 10, White Sox 7
CHICAGO - Manny Ramirez homered and drove in five runs, Jason Varitek hit two solo shots, and Boston earned its fifth straight victory. The streaking Red Sox battered Chicago pitching for the second day in a row and moved a season-high 17 games over .500.
Angels 6, Yankees 1
NEW YORK - Jose Guillen and Jeff DaVanon homered off Esteban Loaiza, the newest target of booing fans at Yankee Stadium, and Loaiza failed to make it out of the fourth inning. Anaheim, which has won four straight and 12 of 16, goes for a three-game sweep today, the finale of a six-game trip. New York, playing its worst ball since early April, has lost five of its last six and been outscored 33-8 in the defeats. Its AL East lead over Boston is down to 6 1/2 games.
Twins 8, Indians 1
MINNEAPOLIS - Justin Morneau and Torii Hunter hit consecutive homers, and Terry Mulholland pitched six strong innings to lead Minnesota. Cleveland, which pulled within a game of the first-place Twins last Saturday, dropped six back in the AL Central following its sixth straight loss. The Indians have been outscored 43-12 during their losing streak, and Minnesota has won five of six during that span.
Athletics 5, Devil Rays 0
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Barry Zito scattered four hits over eight shutout innings for the AL West-leading Athletics. Zito struck out six and walked one to improve to 5-2 in eight starts since the All-Star break.
Tigers 11, Mariners 10 (11)
DETROIT - Craig Monroe hit an RBI single with one out in the 11th inning, leading Detroit to the wild victory. The teams combined for a Comerica Park-record 36 hits, including 21 by Seattle.

BALTIMORE - Carlos Delgado homered and drove in three runs to key a 15-hit outburst, and Toronto handed Baltimore its fifth straight loss.
