OAKLAND, Calif. - Mark Kotsay homered twice to help the A's snap a three-game losing streak.
Kirk Saarloos (2-1) pitched five strong innings for the A's, who pulled within 31/2 games of the first-place Rangers in the AL West. Justin Duchscherer, Jim Mecir and Octavio Dotel combined to pitch four scoreless innings of relief.
Saarloos allowed two runs, three hits and five walks in his fourth start of the season. R.A. Dickey (5-7) allowed eight hits and four runs in 5 1-3 innings.
Eric Chavez also homered for Oakland, a two-run shot in the seventh.
Mark Teixeira hit his 23rd home run of the year in the fourth for the Rangers.

CLEVELAND - Chad Durbin pitched a six-hitter against his former team, losing a bid for his first career shutout in the ninth inning of the first game of a day-night doubleheader. Ronnie Belliard had three RBI for the Indians, who scored eight runs in the second inning off Chris George (1-2).
In the second game, rookie Grady Sizemore's RBI single with two outs in the ninth inning gave Cleveland the sweep.

BALTIMORE - Miguel Tejada homered and drove in two runs to back a fine pitching effort by Sidney Ponson, and Baltimore ended Minnesota's five-game winning streak.
Blue Jays 4, Devil Rays 2
TORONTO - Josh Towers won his third straight start for Toronto while Tampa Bay has lost five straight overall and eight in a row on the road. Since moving a season-high two games over .500 on July 3, the Devil Rays have gone 5-14.
White Sox 7, Tigers 6
CHICAGO - Joe Crede hit a two-run double in the seventh inning and a game-ending home run in the ninth to rally Chicago, which won its fourth straight and moved ahead of Minnesota into the AL Central lead.
