ARLINGTON, Texas - Ryan Drese threw seven solid innings in another impressive home start, and Michael Young's tiebreaking double sent the Texas Rangers to a 3-2 win over the Anaheim Angels on Wednesday night.
Alfonso Soriano homered for the AL West-leading Rangers (54-38), who have their best record through 92 games, one more win than in 1996 when they won their first division title. They are a season-best 16 games over .500, going 5-1 since the All-Star break.
Anaheim lost for the fifth time in six games and dropped a season-high six games behind Texas.
Young's two-out hit in the seventh, on the second pitch by Francisco Rodriguez, drove in Gary Matthews Jr. Young finished 2-for-4, extending his major league-leading totals to 135 hits and 45 multihit games.
Twins 12, Devil Rays 2
MINNEAPOLIS - Backup catcher Henry Blanco went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI to lead the Twins, who got a season-high 17 hits. Luis Rivas hit a three-run homer, Justin Morneau had three hits and an RBI, and Lew Ford homered and scored three runs for the Twins.
White Sox 14, Indians 0
CLEVELAND - Mark Buehrle retired his first 19 batters and pitched a two-hitter, facing the minimum 27 batters. Buehrle (10-3) didn't allow a runner until Omar Vizquel lined a 3-2 pitch out of the reach of shortstop Jose Valentin with one out in the seventh.

MINNEAPOLIS - Luis Rivas hit a three-run home run, and Lew Ford and Henry Blanco also homered as Minnesota defeated Tampa Bay. Carl Crawford hit his fifth home run of the season for Tampa Bay.
Tigers 4, Royals 2
DETROIT - Ivan Rodriguez, Rondell White and Marcus Thames homered for Detroit. Mike Maroth (7-7) allowed two runs and six hits in six innings for the win.
Orioles 10, Red Sox 5
BOSTON - Pedro Martinez gave up a season-high eight runs and lost for the first time since May 16, with Miguel Tejada driving in five runs to lead Baltimore. David Newhan was 4-for-5 with an inside-the-park, two-run homer, a double and two singles.
Yankees 10, Blue Jays 3
NEW YORK - Gary Sheffield hit a three-run homer, Enrique Wilson also connected, and New York battered Toronto in their first meeting of the season.
