AAA: Clippers 1, Bats 0

By The Associated Press

LOUISVILLE - The Columbus Clippers used a leadoff triple, a sacrifice fly and stellar pitching to hold off the Louisville Bats 1-0 Saturday night in the International League.

Kevin Reese started the game with a triple and scored on Andy Phillips' fly ball for the lone run of the game.

Buddy Carlyle (1-1) threw five innings of the rain-delayed game for the Clippers, giving up four hits and a walk. Five relief pitchers wrapped up the game with Scott Proctor earning his first save.

Seth Etherton (3-4) pitched eight innings for the Bats, giving up one run on four hits and two walks. He took the loss.

Louisville put runners on first and third in the seventh inning, but could not score.

The game was delayed for nearly 90 minutes by rain.
