MIAMI - Oliver Perez outpitched All-Star Carl Pavano, and the Pittsburgh Pirates got back to their winning ways with a 4-3 victory over the Florida Marlins on Wednesday night.
The Pirates, who had a 10-game winning streak snapped Tuesday, scored three unearned runs in the fifth to help Perez win his second consecutive start. Before that, he was winless since May 13.
Pittsburgh threw out the potential tying run at the plate to end the seventh inning on a strong relay from left fielder Rob Mackowiak to third baseman Bobby Hill.
The Marlins are 2-6 in their last eight games and have dropped 10 of 14.
Perez (5-4) pitched five innings, allowing four hits and two runs. He struck out four, well off his pace from the last two starts when he combined for 24 strikeouts.
Brewers 4, Cubs 0
MILWAUKEE - Doug Davis threw eight strong innings and Geoff Jenkins hit a two-run homer in Milwaukee's win that completed a three-game sweep of the Cubs.
Davis (9-6), who leads the club in wins, struck out a career-high nine and allowed just four hits and two walks in bouncing back from an 8-1 loss at Pittsburgh on Friday.
The Cubs hadn't been swept in a series of three or more games since Sept. 24-26, 2002, against the Reds. It was the Brewers' first sweep of the Cubs since May 9-12, 2002, at Wrigley Field, and their first sweep of the Cubs at home since Sept. 18-20, 2000, at County Stadium.
Mets 10, Phillies 1
PHILADELPHIA - Mike Cameron homered twice and Steve Trachsel pitched seven solid innings, leading New York over Philadelphia.
Kaz Matsui had four hits, Cameron had three RBI and Cliff Floyd and Ty Wigginton also homered among a season-high 18 hits for New York, which has won five of six games at Citizens Bank Park.
Trachsel (9-6) allowed one run and five hits.

LOS ANGELES - Kazuhisa Ishii pitched his first career one-hitter and Alex Cora hit a three-run homer as Los Angeles won its fifth consecutive game.

SAN DIEGO - Roy Oswalt took a shutout into the seventh inning and Jose Vizcaino went 4-for-4 including a home run as Houston got past San Diego and avoided a three-game sweep.

SAN FRANCISCO - Barry Bonds hit his 681st home run as San Francisco snapped a four-game losing streak.
Braves 14, Expos 2
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - Jaret Wright pitched six solid innings, Andruw Jones homered twice and drove in five runs and Atlanta completed a three-game sweep of the Montreal Expos.
Jones and J.D. Drew each went 4-for-4 and homered in the sixth inning as the Braves won for the 10th time in its last 13.
Hernandez (6-8) worked two-plus innings and allowed six runs on eight hits, with two walks and two strikeouts.
