AAA: Louisville 5, Indianapolis 1

By The Associated Press

INDIANAPOLIS - Stephen Smitherman hit a two-run triple to help lead the Louisville RiverBats over the Indianapolis Indians 5-1 Saturday at Victory Field.

Smitherman's triple off reliever Matt Childers (3-3) in the top of the eighth inning broke a 1-1 tie.

Kenny Kelly doubled to bring Smitherman home and Ray Olmedo followed with an RBI single for Louisville (40-42).

Brian Shackelford (5-1) picked up the win. Childers took the loss for Indianapolis (38-42).

Adrian Hernandez struck out eight and walked five, allowing one run on three hits in seven innings of work for the Indians.

The Indians took a one-run lead in the first when Peter Bergeron scored from third on a catcher's error.

The Bats tied the game in the third on a RBI single by Aaron Holbert.
