CHICAGO - Sammy Sosa homered in the bottom of the 10th inning Thursday, giving the Chicago Cubs a 5-4 victory over the Houston Astros.
Houston rallied from a 4-0 deficit, tying it when Carlos Beltran hit his second homer of the game and fourth of the series, a three-run shot in the eighth.
But Sosa's long homer to left on the first pitch from Brad Lidge (2-4) helped the Cubs take two of three from the Astros. It was Sosa's 13th of the season and the 552nd of his career.
It was Sosa's third homer since coming off the disabled list 13 games ago after a back injury brought on by a hard sneeze.
"I never doubted I was going to come back and help the team the way they want me to help," Sosa said. "Be patient because I'm not going to do it every day. But I'll be there."
Jon Leicester (2-0) worked a hitless 10th for the win.

DENVER - Lyle Overbay hit a two-run double, Victor Santos earned his fifth win in six starts and Milwaukee held off Colorado for its fifth straight victory.
Milwaukee led 10-4 heading into the eighth inning, but Colorado scored five runs off Brooks Kieschnick and Luis Vizcaino to cut the lead to one.
Ben Grieve was 4-for-5, and Santos (7-3) allowed four runs and nine hits, giving Milwaukee its first sweep in Denver and second overall against the Rockies.

Marrero added a run-scoring single in the seventh and Russ Ortiz pitched into the eighth to help the Braves take three of four from the Marlins.
Marlins starter Michael Tejera came into the game with an ERA of 9.00, which soared some more when he failed to get an out in the first.
Dodgers 5, Giants 4
LOS ANGELES - Shawn Green homered and doubled in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning as Los Angeles rallied to beat San Francisco.
All three times the Giants took the lead, the Dodgers responded in the bottom of the inning against 10-game winner Jason Schmidt to tie it. Schmidt gave up six runs on four hits in seven innings, struck out five and walked three.
Eric Gagne struck out the side in the ninth for his 20th save, and major league-record 83rd in a row.
