AL: McCarty hits walk-off in 12th

By The Associated Press

BOSTON - David McCarty homered in the 12th inning after Andy Dominique's first major league hit helped rescue the Red Sox following Keith Foulke's first blown save this year, and Boston beat the Seattle Mariners 9-7 Sunday.

Curt Schilling had a perfect game for 5 2-3 innings before Randy Winn singled but wound up with a no-decision after Raul Ibanez hit a three-run homer off Foulke in a six-run eighth that made it 7-5.

Johnny Damon's sacrifice fly off Eddie Guardado and Dominique's looping pinch single tied it in the bottom half.

J.J. Putz (0-2) and Anastacio Martinez (2-0) each pitched two scoreless innings before McCarty's homer, which moved the Red Sox back into the AL East lead, a half-game ahead of New York.

Devil Rays 7, Yankees 6

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Aubrey Huff homered twice off Jon Lieber (4-2) and drove in three runs.

Victor Zambrano (5-4) beat the defending AL champions for the third time this season, allowing three hits in 6 1-3 shutout innings to help end the Yankees' six-game winning streak.

New York closed with four runs in the eighth. After Brook Fordyce's solo homer off Tanyon Sturtze in the bottom half made it 7-5, Tony Clark hit a two-run single in the ninth off Danys Baez, who then struck out Jorge Posada for his eighth save.

Rangers 4, Blue Jays 2

TORONTO - Kenny Rogers (8-2) became the first eight-game winner in the major leagues despite walking seven, and Texas stopped a four-game losing streak.

Rogers (8-2), off to his best start, won his fourth straight start, allowing one run - it was unearned - and six hits in 5 1-3 innings.

Francisco Cordero pitched two innings for his 16th save, ending Toronto's five-game winning streak.

Justin Miller (1-1) allowed three runs and seven hits in five innings.

White Sox 11, Angels 2

CHICAGO - Willie Harris had four hits, Jose Valentin homered and Ross Gload drove in three runs as Chicago scored in double figures for the eighth time this season and won for the ninth time in 12 games.

John Lackey (3-6) allowed eight runs and nine hits in three innings, matching the shortest outing of his career.

Ex-Angel Scott Schoeneweis (5-2), replaced by Lackey in Anaheim's rotation in 2002, allowed two runs and five hits in seven innings.

Twins 8, Royals 3

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Alex Prieto hit his first major league homer and Corey Koskie drove in three runs.

Kyle Lohse (2-4) allowed three runs and nine hits in five-plus innings for his first victory in eight starts. Lohse's other victory this year was against the Royals on April 17.

Jimmy Gobble (2-3) lost for the third time in four decisions, giving up six runs and eight hits in 3 2-3 innings.

Orioles 7, Tigers 3

DETROIT - B.J. Surhoff tied the score with a ninth-inning single off Ugueth Urbina (1-2), who then walked Brian Roberts with the bases loaded, forcing home the go-ahead run. Baltimore completed a three-game sweep.

Urbina retired only one of seven batters and blew a save for the first time in 13 chances since Aug. 31 for Florida.

Buddy Groom (2-0) got one out for the win, sending Detroit to its sixth loss in seven games.

Indians 4, Athletics 3

CLEVELAND - Omar Vizquel, whose throwing error helped Oakland score twice in the top of the ninth, had a tying RBI double off Arthur Rhodes (1-3), who then threw a game-ending wild pitch to the backstop that scored Matt Lawton.

Rick White (2-0) got three outs for the win after Oakland scored twice off Jose Jimenez for a 3-2 lead.
