BOSTON - Freddy Garcia finally received some run support, getting a homer from Raul Ibenez and a two-run double from Dan Wilson to lead the Seattle Mariners over the Boston Red Sox 5-4 Saturday.

Garcia (3-3) allowed four runs and eight hits in 5 2-3 innings. Seattle scored just 20 runs in his first nine starts.

Eddie Guardardo pitched the ninth for his ninth save in 11 chances.

Tim Wakefield (4-3) gave up five runs, 10 hits and three walks in 6 2-3 innings. Manny Ramirez homered and singled, and Kevin Millar had two hits for the Red Sox, who lost for just the third time in 11 games.

Royals 5, Twins 2

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Dennys Reyes (1-0) won his first decision in 27 appearances. Kansas City rallied in the seventh when Matt Stairs tied the score with a solo homer and Carlos Beltran hit a three-run double off Johan Santana (2-3).

Reyes had not won since beating Seattle in relief for Texas on Sept. 9, 2002. He had gone six starts without a win since defeating Tampa Bay on Sept. 6. 2002.

He allowed two runs - one earned - and six hits, striking out eight and walking four in eight innings. Jeremy Affeldt pitched the ninth for his third save.

Blue Jays 6, Rangers 2

TORONTO - Miguel Batista (2-3) struck out a season-high seven in eight innings, allowing two runs and five hits as Toronto won its fifth straight. Texas has lost a season-high four in a row.

Toronto's Carlos Delgado left after the fifth inning with an irritated right ribcage. He grimaced after swinging the bat on a groundout.

Juan Dominguez (0-1), recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma on Friday, allowed three runs and eight his in 5 1-3 innings.

Eric Hinske, who went 2-for-4 and raised his average to .216, hit a two-run single in the seventh.

Angels 5, White Sox 1

CHICAGO - Aaron Sele (4-0) allowed four hits in 6 1-3 innings as Anaheim stopped a four-game losing streak.

Jeff DaVanon had two doubles and a single for the Angels, who scored five in the fourth inning off 6-foot-11 Jon Rauch (0-1), making his first major league start since Sept. 27, 2002. Chicago's fifth starters are a combined 0-7 this season.

Yankees 5, Devil Rays 3

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Kevin Brown (6-1) allowed three hits in 7 2-3 innings, taking a shutout in the eighth and improving to 4-0 this season against Tampa Bay.

Bernie Williams, Ruben Sierra and Enrique Wilson homered for the defending AL champions, who won their sixth straight and moved back into the AL East lead, a half-game ahead of Boston. Mariano Rivera worked a hitless ninth for his AL-leading 18th save, the 301st of his career.

Mark Hendrickson (2-5) allowed four runs, eight hits and four walks in 5 2-3 innings.

Orioles 8, Tigers 4

DETROIT - Miguel Tejada homered for the third straight game and Larry Bigbie drove in three runs.

Daniel Cabrera (3-1) allowed three runs - two earned - seven hits and four walks in five innings, and John Parrish finished for his first save.

Jeremy Bonderman (4-4) gave up seven runs and 10 hits in just 2 1-3 innings.

Indians 8, Athletics 6

CLEVELAND - Jody Gerut singled home Matt Lawton with the go-ahead run in the eighth as Cleveland rallied from a 6-2, fifth-inning deficit.

Gerut's base hit off Arthur Rhodes (1-2) came shortly after the A's committed their third error. Oakland's pitchers also issued 10 walks.

David Riske (1-2) allowed one hit in two innings and Jose Jimenez pitched the ninth for his first save since last Aug. 3 for Colorado at Pittsburgh.
