HOUSTON - Albert Pujols homered twice, going 4-for-5 with three RBIs as St. Louis won its fifth straight over Houston.
Pujols homered in the first and fifth innings off Wade Miller (5-5), his second multihomer game this season and the eighth of his career. With 14 homers, Pujols tied for the major league lead.
Cody McKay went 4-for-5 for the Cardinals, who had 16 hits, and Roger Cedeno hit his first homer since last Sept. 16.
Woody Williams (2-5) gave up three runs and eight hits in six innings.
Pirates 10, Cubs 7
PITTSBURGH - Rob Mackowiak hit a go-ahead, three-run homer and two-run double for a career-high five RBIs. Jason Kendall was 4-for-5, extending his hitting streak to 15 games.
Pittsburgh had 16 hits and improved to 23-22, moving above .500 this late in a season for the first time since Aug. 15, 1999 (59-58).
Aramis Ramirez had four RBIs for Chicago, which has lost five straight for the first time since Sept. 22-27, 2002.
Pirates starter Josh Fogg (3-4) allowed five runs and seven hits in six innings. Chicago's Sergio Mitre (2-4) lasted only 3 2-3 innings, giving up six runs and 10 hits.
Brewers 4, Padres 3
MILWAUKEE - Wes Obermueller, (3-1) pitching for the first time since May 12, hit a three-run double - his first extra-base hit in 35 career at-bats - and struck out struck out a career-high six in six innings.
Dan Kolb pitched the ninth for his 13th save in 13 chances as Milwaukee won despite being outhit 11-4.
Dennis Tankersley (0-1) struck out a career-high nine in six innings, allowing three runs - none earned - and three hits.
Braves 9, Phillies 3
PHILADELPHIA - J.D. Drew homered and drove in three runs, leading the Atlanta Braves over the Philadelphia Phillies 9-3 Saturday.
Rafael Furcal had a two-run triple, and Dewayne Wise had three hits for Atlanta, which has won seven of 10. John Thomson (4-2) gave up three runs - one earned - and eight hits in seven innings.
Vicente Padilla (4-5) allowed four runs and five hits in five innings before leaving with an inflamed right elbow. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list after the game.
Philadelphia has lost three of five after going 12-4.
Marlins 3, Mets 2
MIAMI - Mike Lowell homered off former Florida closer Braden Looper in the 10th inning. It was Lowell's 14th home run of the season, which tied for the major league lead.
Looper (0-1) was making his first appearance in his former home park since signing with the Mets in the offseason.
Justin Wayne (3-1), the fourth Florida pitcher, worked a perfect 10th to cap a one-hit, three-inning showing by the bullpen, which helped the NL East-leading Marlins take a two-game lead over Philadelphia.
