LOUISVILLE - Austin Kearns hit a three-run home run to lead the Louisville Bats past Toledo 7-5 Saturday night in the first game of a doubleheader.
Adrian Burnside (1-1) surrendered just one run in five innings of work as Toledo won the second game, 4-1.
Kearns' home run in the first game put the Bats up 6-1 in the second inning. Jim Chamblee went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and Bobby Darula also had two hits for Louisville.
Bats reliever Aaron Myette (2-1) shut out the Mud Hens over the final three innings to earn the win.
Toledo made a charge in the fourth inning, scoring four runs, but they were shut down by Myette when he took the mound in the fifth. Marcus Thames had a home run for the Mud Hens, and Eric Owens drove in two runs.
In the second game, Joe Vitello hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning to give the Mud Hens a 2-1 lead.
Bats starter Jung Kuen Bong (3-4) gave up three runs on four hits in six innings of work. Steve Lomasney's solo home run was the Bats' only offense.
Both games were shortened to seven innings.
