ANAHEIM, Calif. - Jeff DaVanon homered and drove in four runs, Jarrod Washburn won his fifth straight start, and the injury-plagued Anaheim Angels won their ninth straight game, 8-4 over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays on Sunday.
It was the 15th win in 17 games for the AL West-leading Angels, who played their first game since first baseman Darin Erstad joined outfielder Garret Anderson and designated hitter Tim Salmon on the disabled list. Anaheim is two wins shy of the franchise's record winning streak, set in June 1964.
Jose Guillen, who homered in the fifth, injured his right knee and ankle sliding into second base. If he lands on the DL the Angels would be missing four of their eight regulars when they play in New York on Tuesday.
Royals 8, Red Sox 4
BOSTON - Darrell May earned his first victory since Sept. 21, Carlos Beltran had three hits with four RBI and Kansas City snapped Boston's five-game winning streak. Mike Sweeney was 2-for-2 with three intentional walks and Kelly Stinnett homered for the Royals, who snapped four-game losing streak and won on the road for just the third time.
Orioles 12, Indians 11
BALTIMORE - Miguel Tejada hit his second homer of the game in a four-run sixth inning, and Baltimore held on for its first three-game sweep of Cleveland since August 1993. Melvin Mora also homered, and Tejada, who came in with two home runs, had his sixth career two-homer game.
Tigers 5, Rangers 3
ARLINGTON, Texas - Alex Sanchez hit a tiebreaking homer in the eighth inning, and Nate Robertson allowed three hits in seven-plus innings for Detroit. The teams combined for 32 hits in Texas' 16-15 victory in 10 innings Saturday night, but just eight runs and nine hits Sunday.
Blue Jays 5, White Sox 2
TORONTO - Justin Miller tied a career high by pitching seven strong innings, Frank Catalanotto hit a two-run homer and Toronto won its season-high fifth straight.
Yankees 7, Mariners 6
SEATTLE - Hideki Matsui's sacrifice fly in the eighth inning gave New York its second comeback win from a six-run deficit this week. Derek Jeter, Jason Giambi and Alex Rodriguez homered for the Yankees, who trailed 6-0 in the second.
Athletics 8, Twins 4
OAKLAND, Calif. - Mark Mulder pitched a season-high nine innings, and Bobby Kielty hit a two-run homer and drove in three runs for Oakland. Erubiel Durazo drove in two runs for the A's, who hadn't won a series at home since the season's first week.
