DURHAM, N.C. - Durham's pitchers, led by starter Rob Bell, held Louisville to only three hits, and Jonny Gomes and Luis Ordaz teamed up on home runs to help the Bulls defeat the Bats 7-0 in International League play Friday.
Bell (5-0) allowed only two hits and struck out nine over six innings for Durham (16-10). Mike Holtz allowed one hit and struck out five in two innings, and Bobby Seay wrapped up the ninth with no hits on three at-bats.
Brandon Claussen (1-3) took the loss for Louisville (12-16), allowing five runs on seven hits over 5.1 innings.
Gomes and Ordaz made it 2-0 with home runs in the second and third innings, respectively. Both scored on Gomes' two-run homer in the seventh for the final score.
Gomes finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored.
