Louisville splits doubleheader with Columbus

By The Associated Press

COLUMBUS - Brian Myrow doubled home two runs and Caonabo Cosme's single drove in the winning run in Columbus' 5-3 win over the Louisville Bats in the first game of an International League doubleheader on Friday.

Gary Burnham had two hits and drove in two runs to help Louisville win the second game 5-1.

In the first game, Myrow's double in the first inning gave Columbus a 3-0 lead.

The Bats tied the game in the third on consecutive doubles by Jermaine Clark, Felipe Lopez and Aaron Holbert and a single by Brandon Larson, on a rehabilitation assignment from the Cincinnati Reds. Larson also had two hits and an RBI in the second game.

Cosme, who scored on Myrow's double, put the Clippers ahead in the fourth when his single drove home John Rodriguez.

Brad Halsey (1-0) gave up three runs in five innings for Columbus, allowing five hits, walking three and striking out three. Sam Marsonek pitched a scoreless seventh for his third save.

Jesus Sanchez (1-1) gave up two runs, one earned, in pitching three innings of relief for the Bats.

Aaron Myette (1-0) gave up one run in five innings while striking out four for Louisville in the second game.

Ramon Ramirez (0-3) gave up five runs, four of them earned, in 4 1/3 innings for the Clippers.
