CLEVELAND - Omar Vizquel led a champagne toast in Cleveland's clubhouse in honor of his 2,000th career hit.
His milestone helped set up Cleveland's three-run rally in the eighth inning Thursday, giving the Indians a 5-4 win over the Kansas City Royals.
"What made it so special was that we came from behind," said Vizquel, who started his career with Seattle.
The win could have been a potentially costly one for the Indians. But they got good news when an MRI showed that ace C.C. Sabathia had only irritated a biceps muscle during pregame warmups and wasn't seriously injured.
Sabathia was pulled from what would have been his 100th career start about 15 minutes before he was scheduled to make his first pitch. Jeff D'Amico filled in for the left-hander.
Blue Jays 7, Red Sox 3
TORONTO - Chris Gomez hit a tiebreaking grand slam off Curt Schilling in the eighth inning to help give Toronto its first home victory of the season.
David Ortiz homered for Boston.

BALTIMORE - Rafael Palmeiro homered and Miguel Tejada had a season-high three RBI for Baltimore. Palmeiro led off the sixth inning with his 102nd homer at Camden Yards, the most by any player but only his first there since May 23, 1999, when he played for Texas.
Twins 4, Tigers 3
MINNEAPOLIS - Lew Ford hit a three-run homer for Minnesota, and Johan Santana earned his first victory of the season. Ford, who had two hits, has a team-high 15 RBI since being called up to replace injured Torii Hunter on April 10.
Athletics 8, Mariners 2
SEATTLE - Eric Chavez hit a three-run homer as Oakland earned a split of the four-game series. Mark Mulder allowed two runs and five hits, then turned it over to Chris Hammond in the seventh - the first time in four starts that Mulder didn't go seven innings.
Angels 7, Rangers 5
ANAHEIM, Calif. - Troy Glaus hit a three-run homer, Jeff DaVanon also homered and Anaheim ended a three-game losing streak.
David Dellucci had his first career two-homer game for the Texas.
White Sox 4, Yankees 3
