Acevedo Meet the Reds: Jose Acevedo

Position: Pitcher

Age: 26

Height/weight: 6 feet/180 pounds

Throws/bats: Right/right

Born/resides: Santo Domingo, D.R./Santiago, D.R.

How acquired: Signed as non-drafted free agent, Dec. 7, 1996.

Favorite TV show: Animal Planet.

Favorite movie: Scarface.

Other than baseball he likes to: Hunt.

Fun fact: Acevedo is a cousin of Hall of Famer Juan Marichal.

Injury report

Adam Dunn remained out of the lineup after minor surgery Wednesday on the infected ring finger of his right hand. He did take batting practice.

Game report: Reds 4, Phillies 2

The bats: Barry Larkin went 2-for-2 with a double. Larkin is hitting .375. Ryan Freel was 1-for-3 with a stolen base and two runs scored.

The arms: Cory Lidle made his third start of the spring and became the first Reds pitcher to go five innings. Lidle allowed a run on five hits. His ERA is 1.80 after 10 innings this spring. Mike Matthews, Brian Reith and Danny Graves each pitched a scoreless inning. Graves earned his first save.

The rest: The game drew 6,194, the largest crowd this year at Ed Smith Stadium.

Up next: The Reds are off today. The Reds play the Boston Red Sox Tuesday in the spring's first night game at Ed Smith. Right-hander Jose Acevedo (1-0, 1.50 ERA) faces right-hander Bronson Arroyo (0-1, 10.80).
