The Reds signed catcher Steve Lomasney to a minor-league contract with an invitation to major-league spring training.
The team also announced the retirement of Mike Stefanski, who will remain with the organization as the Reds' bullpen catcher this season. Stefanski, 34, played 13 seasons in the minors for the Brewers, Cardinals and Reds.
Lomasney, a fifth-round draft choice by the Red Sox in 1995, hit .241 with 10 doubles and 19 RBI at Triple-A Ottawa last season.
