The Reds finished far out of the postseason. But they will be well-represented in October.
Every one of the eight teams in the Division Series has at least one former Red on their roster. Nineteen former Reds are in the postseason.
And former manager Jack McKeon, of course, has his Florida Marlins in the postseason.
Representation varies from the New York Yankees, who have six former Reds on the roster, including three who started the year with Cincinnati, to the Minnesota Twins, who have only one former Red on the roster (Rick Reed) who pitched in only four games for the club in 1995.
Of all the veterans the Reds traded to trim the budget this year, only one - Scott Sullivan - did not end up in the playoffs.
Aaron Boone, Gabe White and Felix Heredia will play key roles for the Yankees in their series with the Minnesota Twins.
Scott Williamson is in a bullpen setup role for Boston. Williamson's 6.20 ERA grew when he gave up five runs in two-thirds of an inning on Sept. 20.
Jose Guillen, back from injury, is starting in right field for Oakland. Guillen is one of the postseason's best stories. He returned to play a week after breaking a bone in his left hand.
Kent Mercker is the lefty setup man for Atlanta. Mercker has pitched well since the trade, as his 1.06 ERA would indicate.
Many former Reds got to the postseason because they were traded to contenders for the stretch run.
Juan Encarnacion, the Marlins right fielder, took the opposite path. He was traded from the Reds to the Marlins in the 2002 Ryan Dempster deal, when the Reds were trying to bolster themselves for a pennant run. Encarnacion had a good year in 2003 - .276, 19 homers and 94 RBI.
