Hall faces long rehab

By John Fay
The Cincinnati Enquirer

Reds right-hander Josh Hall underwent arthroscopic surgery Monday to repair a torn labrum and clean up scar tissue.

It is the second time Hall, 22, has had surgery on his throwing shoulder. The rehab period for Monday's procedure usually is six-to-nine months.

Catcher Corky Miller also had arthroscopic surgery Monday. Miller had bone chips removed from his right elbow. He is expected to be ready in time for the start of spring training.

Reds medical director Dr. Tim Kremchek performed both surgeries.

Right-hander Jose Acevedo will have surgery on his left foot Wednesday. Acevedo injured his ankle and foot when he slipped walking down the dugout steps in Dodger Stadium during an Aug. 6 start.

Acevedo, one of the favorites to make the 2004 rotation, is expected to be ready for spring training.

LARKIN DEAL: The one-year contract Barry Larkin signed Sunday calls for a base salary of $700,000. Larkin gets a $100,000 bonus for playing 80 games; $100,000 more for playing 90 games; and $100,000 more for playing in 100 games.
