PHILADELPHIA - The road to the World Series in the National League will go through Turner Field.
The NL East champion Atlanta Braves clinched home-field advantage throughout the playoffs with a 5-2 victory Sunday over the Philadelphia Phillies in the final game at Veterans Stadium.
The Phillies are moving into the new Citizens Bank Park next year after 33 mostly losing seasons at the Vet, which opened with a victory over the Montreal Expos on April 10, 1971.
Greg Maddux earned his 289th career victory and Robert Fick drove in two runs for the Braves, who open the playoffs against the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night.
The Braves, who earned their 101st victory, entered with a half-game lead over San Francisco for the best record in the NL. The Giants started the day with 99 wins, and earned their 100th with a victory over Los Angeles.
The Giants had already said they would not have traveled to New York today for a possible makeup game against the Mets, had they tied the Braves for most victories.
Cardinals 9, Diamondbacks 5
PHOENIX - Albert Pujols went 2-for-5 and won the NL batting title.
Pujols had an infield single in the third inning, then doubled in the seventh. He struck out looking in the eighth to finish with a .3587 average. Colorado's Todd Helton finished with a .3585 average.
"Can you imagine? You get 590 at-bats and it comes down to one at-bat the last day," Pujols said. "This is unbelievable."
Rockies 10, Padres 8
SAN DIEGO - This wasn't the way the Padres wanted to say goodbye to Qualcomm Stadium.
The Padres had a chance in the ninth, when Phil Nevin and Mark Kotsay opened with singles off Brian Fuentes. But Justin Speier came on and struck out the side, getting Gary Bennett swinging to end the game.
Astros 8, Brewers 5
HOUSTON - Jeff Bagwell homered twice and drove in four runs in a brief appearance for Houston.
It was Bagwell's fifth multihomer game of the season and the 31st of his career. Bagwell hit 39 homers this season.
Marlins 4, Mets 0
MIAMI - Mike Lowell returned from a hand injury after a four-week absence and doubled for playoff-bound Florida.
Dontrelle Willis (14-6) allowed three hits over five innings for Florida as he tuned up for Game 4 of the playoffs against San Francisco.
Pirates 3, Cubs 2
CHICAGO - Sammy Sosa, Moises Alou and most of the Cubs' regulars got a day off as the NL Central champions closed the regular season.
Pittsburgh, wrapping up its 11th straight losing season, broke a 2-2 tie on Jack Wilson's solo homer in the seventh inning.
Giants 12, Dodgers 3
SAN FRANCISCO - Barry Bonds had two hits and drove in a run while preparing for the playoffs.
Bonds has 558 career home runs and is two shy of tying his godfather, Willie Mays, for third on the career list.
