BALTIMORE - Hurricane Isabel and the Baltimore Orioles teamed to deny Mike Mussina his 200th career victory.
A steady rain and the imminent arrival of winds up to 35 mph caused Thursday's game between the Orioles and New York Yankees to be stopped after five innings in a 1-1 tie.
The individual statistics will count, and Katy Feeney of the commissioner's office said the game will be made up as part of a doubleheader in New York on either Sept. 26 or 27.
Yankees owner George Steinbrenner issued a statement that said the commissioner's office showed "terrible judgment and overall stupidity" in proceeding with the game, which was rescheduled from 7:05 p.m. to 12:35 p.m. to try to beat Isabel's arrival. Rain began in the first inning.
Twins 5, White Sox 3
MINNEAPOLIS - Jacque Jones hit a pair of two-run homers off Bartolo Colon, helping the Minnesota Twins complete a three-game sweep.
The Twins, defending AL Central champions, lead the White Sox by 3 1/2 games in the AL Central and have nine games left - seven against Detroit, the worst team in the majors.
Blue Jays 10, Tigers 6
DETROIT - Detroit lost its 114th game, the fifth-highest total in major-league history, and Mike Maroth (7-21) became the first pitcher in 29 years to lose 21 games.
Red Sox 4, Devil Rays 3
BOSTON - Manny Ramirez hit his 35th homer of the season and Boston increased its AL wild-card lead to 2 1/2 games over Seattle.
Rangers 2, Mariners 1
ARLINGTON, Texas - Laynce Nix blooped an RBI single in the 10th off Shigetoshi Hasegawa (2-3) after a leadoff double by Alex Rodriguez, sending Seattle to its fourth loss in five games.
Royals 3, Indians 2
CLEVELAND - Jose Lima (8-1), who had been on the disabled list since Aug. 24, allowed two runs and six hits in five innings.
