Cincinnati Reds fans who missed out on the first opportunity to have a personalized brick placed outside Great American Ball Park will have another chance.
This time, Reds officials promise, buyers won't find that their bricks fade or are difficult to read, as did some of the bricks on Crosley Terrace this spring.
"We've learned from what happened the first time and we don't expect it to happen again," said Zach Bonkowski of the Reds' marketing department.
The club isn't saying exactly how many bricks will be sold in the second go-around, except to say it will be a "limited" number on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Reds had to replace a number of the original bricks because they were fading and hard to read. Bonkowski said that all of the bricks are being treated bi-weekly with a sealing solution.
"It seems to be working and we don't think it is going to be a problem in the future," he said.
The new batch of bricks will be placed in a Hall of Fame Breezeway that will be built adjacent the main entrance to the ball park.
The bricks will again be sold in two sizes - a 4-inch-by-8-inch brick for $75 and an 8-inch-by-8-inch brick for $150. The smaller brick holds up to three lines of inscription at 15 characters per line. The larger bricks hold six lines.
Fans can pick up order forms at Great American Ball Park during the last home stand of the season, which begins next Tuesday. The forms are available now at the Majestic Dugout Shop in the Westin Hotel, downtown.
Bricks can be bought by calling (866) 850-2100. Order forms can also be downloaded and printed at the Reds' Web sitewww.cincinnatireds.com. Completed forms can be mailed to the Cincinnati Reds Brick Campaign, PO Box 2059, Cincinnati, OH 45201-2059.
