Twins acquire Orosco from Yankees

The Associated Press

MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Twins acquired 46-year-old pitcher Jesse Orosco in a trade with the New York Yankees.

Orosco, designated for assignment by the Yankees, was acquired Sunday for a player to be named.

Orosco, the oldest player in the major leagues, had a 10.38 ERA in 15 games with the Yankees after being acquired from San Diego on July 22.

In 24 seasons, Orosco has pitched in 1,244 games, the most in major league history.

METS: Shortstop Jose Reyes might miss the rest of the season after spraining his left ankle Sunday. Reyes was injured trying to break up a game-ending double play in a 4-1 loss to Philadelphia. He had X-rays Sunday and Monday, and no fractures were evident.

BRAVES: Reliever Kevin Gryboski has a tear in his pitching shoulder and won't pitch until the final week of the season, at the earliest. Gryboski is 6-4 with a 4.10 ERA in 41 2-3 innings over 61 games.

BATS: Andrew Beattie went 3-for-5 with a homer and six RBI as Louisville set a franchise record for runs Monday in a 21-4 win over Columbus to close the International League regular season.

Calvin Pickering hit a 455-foot home run in the second inning and Michael Coleman also homered for West Division champion Louisville, which finished 3 1/2 games ahead of Columbus.
