When: 9:35 p.m. today, Wednesday and Thursday.
Where: Bank One Ballpark, Phoenix, Ariz.
TV: Fox Sports Net, all three games.
Radio: WLW (700-AM)
Records: Reds, 55-68, fifth place in the NL Central; Diamondbacks, 65-59, second in the NL West, 8 1/2 games behind the San Francisco Giants. Arizona is in third place in the NL wild-card standings, 4 1/2 games behind the Philadelphia Phillies.
The arms: Today, LHP John Bale (0-0, 0.71 ERA) vs. RHP Brandon Webb (7-6, 2.56); Wednesday, Aaron Harang (2-0, 3.75) vs. LHP Randy Johnson (3-5, 5.08); Thursday, Danny Graves (4-13, 5.18) vs. RHP Elmer Dessens (6-7, 4.94).
The bats: The Diamondbacks are only 12th in the NL in runs scored, despite their status as contenders. Veterans Luis Gonzalez and Steve Finley have been mainstays, while Shea Hillenbrand (.283, 9 HR, 34 RBI in 49 games) has been a welcome addition.
The rest: The good news is the Reds miss Curt Schilling, who struck out 11 Reds in seven shutout innings last week. Arizona won the first two games against the Reds, but then lost the finale and three of four to the Braves, finishing the road trip 3-4. Randy Johnson is 2-1 but has a 7.73 ERA in three August starts.
