NEW YORK - Derek Jeter homered in each of the first two innings and Hideki Matsui and Jason Giambi also hit home runs, leading Roger Clemens and the New York Yankees over the Texas Rangers 6-2 Tuesday night.
Jeter hit a leadoff homer in the first and a two-run shot in the second. It was his first multihomer game of the season and fourth of his career.
Matsui added a two-run homer in the first and Giambi hit his AL-leading 32nd home run in the fifth.
Clemens (11-7) earned his 304th career victory, allowing one run and five hits in seven innings.
Antonio Osuna started the eighth for the Yankees, allowing Hank Blalock's RBI double. Osuna also flattened Texas star Alex Rodriguez with a high-and-tight fastball.
Earlier in the game, Texas starter Colby Lewis (4-7) hit Alfonso Soriano with a pitch.
Rodriguez became only the 35th player in major-league history to play in 500 consecutive games.

CHICAGO - Frank Thomas hit a two-run homer and Esteban Loaiza won his third straight decision for Chicago, which closed to two games behind AL Central-leading Kansas City.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Travis Lee homered and singled in the winning run with two outs in the 10th inning for Tampa Bay. Tom Wilson hit a tiebreaking, two-run double with two outs in the eighth inning to put Toronto ahead 4-2, but the Devil Rays rallied in the ninth against Cliff Politte.

CLEVELAND - Seattle's Jamie Moyer (15-5) became the AL's third 15-game winner this season, allowing one run and three hits to join Oakland's Mark Mulder and Toronto's Roy Halladay for the league lead in victories.

BOSTON - Trot Nixon hit a tiebreaking single off relief ace Brendan Donnelly in the seventh inning for Boston, which overcame an early 5-0 disadvantage. Donnelly began the game with a major league-best 0.67 ERA.

BALTIMORE - Jason Johnson and four relievers combined on a six-hitter, and Luis Matos had two RBI to lead Baltimore. The Orioles have won 13 of their last 16 games at Camden Yards.

DETROIT - Rookie Rich Harden (3-0) gave up two runs and five hits, struck out six and walked two in six innings to give Oakland its ninth win in its last 12 games.
