BALTIMORE - Minnesota scored two sixth-inning runs on a throwing error by Brian Roberts, ruining the Baltimore debut of Damian Moss.

Brad Radke (8-9) allowed two runs and seven hits in 6 1-3 innings, and Eddie Guardado got three outs for his 100th career save - and 25th this season.

Moss (0-1) gave up a home run to Doug Mientkiewicz on his ninth pitch of the game, but settled down to turn in a solid performance. Obtained last Thursday in the trade that sent Sidney Ponson to San Francisco, the left-hander yielded only one earned run and six hits in 6 2-3 innings.

Royals 13, White Sox 9

CHICAGO - Aaron Guiel hit a three-run double in a seven-run sixth inning and the Kansas City Royals beat the Chicago White Sox 13-9 Monday night to extend their AL Central lead to three games.

The Royals snapped a five-game losing skid to the second-place White Sox and regained some of the momentum they lost after being swept in a three-game series in Kansas City last week.

Angel Berroa drove in three runs, Dee Brown had a career-high four hits and starter Runelvys Hernandez (6-4) went five shaky innings for the win.

Chicago's Frank Thomas homered for his 2,000th career hit. Joe Crede and Jose Valentin also connected.

Berroa had two hits in the sixth as Kansas City scored seven times to take a 10-6 lead. White Sox manager Jerry Manuel and reliever Matt Ginter were ejected after the right-hander hit Raul Ibanez with a pitch - the third hit batsman of the game.

Recently acquired reliever Scott Schoeneweis (2-2) failed to get an out for Chicago, allowing four runs on three hits and a walk before leaving to boos.

Al Levine, acquired from Tampa Bay just before the trade deadline, pitched two perfect innings for his first save.

Devil Rays 10, Blue Jays 1

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Victor Zambrano threw seven scoreless innings, and Julio Lugo homered and tied a career high with five RBIs as Tampa Bay routed Toronto.

Zambrano (9-5) allowed seven hits in winning for the eighth time since June 1. Only Toronto's Roy Halladay, with nine, has more wins during that stretch in the AL.

Lugo hit a two-run single in the fifth and a three-run homer one inning later. The Devil Rays have won eight of 10 against the Blue Jays this season.

Toronto starter Cory Lidle (11-10) gave up eight runs and eight hits over 5 2-3 innings. The right-hander has lost six of his last seven decisions.

The crowd of 8,193 was the smallest home attendance in Tampa Bay history.
