BOSTON - Jason Varitek hit a tying three-run homer and Johnny Damon followed with a go-ahead shot as Boston scored six times in the seventh inning to beat New York 6-4.
Jeff Weaver took a 3-0 lead and a two-hitter into the seventh before he walked Trot Nixon and hit Bill Mueller with one out. Chris Hammond, who had allowed one homer all season, relieved and Varitek homered over the Green Monster as a disgusted Weaver threw a towel in the Yankees dugout. Boston then added three more runs.
The victory moved the Red Sox to within 1 1/2 games of the Yankees in the AL East.Blue Jays 10, Orioles 1
TORONTO - Roy Halladay won his 15th straight decision, pitching seven scoreless innings to lead Toronto over Baltimore.
Halladay (15-2) matched the club record for consecutive wins set by Roger Clemens in 1998 and is the first major league pitcher to win 15 straight decisions since Clemens won 16 in a row for the New York Yankees in 2001.
White Sox 9, Devil Rays 1
CHICAGO - Bartolo Colon combined on a four-hitter, and Frank Thomas homered and drove in three runs as Chicago beat Tampa Bay for its ninth win in 10 games.
Colon gave up Rocco Baldelli's first-inning homer, then retired 18 consecutive batters until Aubrey Huff doubled in the seventh.
Indians 3, Twins 2, 14 innings
CLEVELAND - Tim Laker, who missed an earlier chance to win it, hit an RBI single with two outs in the 14th inning to give Cleveland a win over Minnesota.
Laker, who left the bases loaded when he popped out for the final out of the 10th inning, came through in the 14th.

DETROIT - Jose Lima won his seventh straight start, and Angel Berroa and Desi Relaford homered as Kansas City beat Detroit. Lima (7-0) continued his remarkable major league comeback, giving up four hits in five shutout innings against his former team.

SEATTLE - Michael Young had four hits and John Thomson pitched eight solid innings as Texas beat Seattle.
Seattle's lead over Oakland in the AL West was cut to three games, the closest the Athletics have been since May 27.

ANAHEIM, Calif. - Tim Hudson pitched a four-hitter and Scott Hatteberg went 3-for-4 with a pair of solo homers as Oakland breezed to a 10-1 victory over Anaheim.
