Danny Graves is going to the bullpen - for two days.
Graves was scheduled to start for the Reds in today's series finale with the St. Louis Cardinals. But the Reds decided to push him back at least a day after he pitched the 14th inning of the Reds' 7-4 victory over the Cards Tuesday.
"He'll be down (in the bullpen) the next two days," Reds manager Bob Boone said before Wednesday's game.
Jimmy Anderson will start today's game. As for Friday, it's too early to say.
"We're going with TBA," Boone said.
One option would be to move Ryan Dempster up one day to Friday. If Graves isn't used, he could start Friday. John Riedling, eligible to come off the disabled list Friday, also fits into the equation but could go on a rehabilitation assignment.
"He's going to pitch somewhere Friday," Boone said of Riedling. "I don't think we'll start him."
Graves was moved from the closer role to the rotation late last year. But he felt right at home in the save situation.
"It's weird," he said. "But it's the best I've felt. The adrenaline kicked in. The next time I start, if the game is 7:05, I'm going down to get ready at 7:02."
