A Dunn deal
Adam Dunn's two-game suspension marks a good time to look at his strange-but-true season:
The 23-year-old, batting .202, is on pace to hit 49 home runs, which would tie the record for a Reds left-handed batter, set by Ted Kluszewski, with 49 in 1954. The overall record is George Foster, with 52 in 1977.
Dunn has 86 strikeouts in 68 games. If he struck out at the same rate (1.3 times per game) for the 89 games after his return, he would finish with 202 strikeouts. That would shatter his own club record of 170 strikeouts, set last season.
Thirteen of his past 20 hits have been home runs.
Thirty-six of his 45 RBI have come from homers.
He is 3-for-4 with three homers and eight RBI as a pinch hitter, including a grand slam.
Familiar seasons?
Here are several seasons that would mirror Dunn's home run/strikeout performance.

Left-handed complements
The Reds have gotten some great work from their lefty relievers, Gabe White, Kent Mercker and Felix Heredia. A look entering Saturday:
White: He had one awful outing - 6 ER in two-thirds of an inning last Saturday. In his other 33 appearances, he has a 2.41 ERA. He has retired 85 percent of the first batters he has faced.
Mercker: He has a team-leading 1.78 ERA and hasn't allowed a run in his past six appearances, or an earned run in his past 10.
Heredia: He pitched at least two innings in each of his past five appearances and has thrown 8 1/3 scoreless innings. He's second on the team in ERA at 2.55.
Flashback
Hall of Famer Larry Doby, the AL's first black player, died Wednesday.
Doby debuted for the Indians in 1947, 11 weeks after Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier with Brooklyn.
The Reds, by contrast, did not debut their first African-American player until 1954, when Chuck Harmon took the field April 17.
The 30-year-old third baseman hit .238 with two homers and 25 RBI in 94 games that season.
By the numbers
(entering Saturday)
13: Consecutive relief appearances for Chris Reitsma (19 IP, 3.32 ERA).
48: Reds' stolen bases, third in the NL.
.326: Reds' on-base percentage, 13th in the NL.
5.46: Reds' ERA, 16th and last in the NL.
97: Reds' homers allowed, second-most in the NL.
