PHOENIX - Jose Guillen saw a reporter approaching and said: "I don't want to say anything. I don't want to cause any trouble."
Guillen, the Reds' fourth outfielder, has had little reason to complain lately. Since his June 8 bat-throwing tirade, Guillen has started eight of 11 games, including Friday's late game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
He'll probably start the next four of five as well. Adam Dunn serves the second game of his two-game suspension tonight. Sean Casey probably will begin serving his suspension Tuesday.
"I'm getting an opportunity," he said. "With (Ken) Griffey out for a few days, then this, I don't like how it happened, but I got to take advantage of my chance."
Said Reds manager Bob Boone: "It has a way of working out. It always does."
To Guillen's credit, he continues to play well.
His bat had cooled off a bit. In his last seven starts going into Friday, he was hitting .272 with two home runs, two RBI and four runs scored.
But he had a great start to Friday's game.
He put down a perfect sacrifice bunt in his first at-bat and hit a two-run homer in his second.
He just missed another homer his third time up, doubling in a run high off the center-field wall that gave the Reds a 3-0 lead.
