AL: Wells sends Yanks to split with Devil Rays

NEW YORK - David Wells pitched a seven-hitter, and Jason Giambi and Ruben Sierra each had three hits as the New York Yankees rebounded from a nine-run loss with a 10-2 win over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the second game of a day-night doubleheader Tuesday.

In the opener, the Devil Rays had two five-run innings and won 11-2 despite hitting into a team-record six double plays. Jeremi Gonzalez pitched one-hit ball for six innings.

Wells (9-2) allowed just seven hits and two runs - one earned.

SEATTLE - Bret Boone had a grand slam - his 19th home run of the season - and five RBI to lead Seattle.

Athletics 4, Rangers 3

OAKLAND, Calif. - Miguel Tejada hit a home run while playing in his 500th straight game and Mark Ellis and Scott Hatteberg also homered as Oakland won its fourth straight game.

Royals 14, Twins 7

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Ken Harvey had two hits and three RBI in a 12-run sixth inning as Kansas City seat a team record for scoring in an inning.

Red Sox 7, White Sox 4

CHICAGO - Manny Ramirez hit a three-run homer, and John Burkett recovered from a shaky for Boston.

Indians 7, Tigers 4

DETROIT - Ben Broussard, Casey Blake and Matt Lawton homered in a five-run fourth inning to help Cleveland snap a four-game losing streak.

BALTIMORE - Tuesday's game was postponed by rain and will be made up July 3.
