NEW YORK - Ben Sheets pitched seven sharp innings, and Milwaukee scored four times in the first off Tom Glavine before he left with an injured elbow as the Brewers beat the New York Mets 5-3 Thursday to complete a doubleheader sweep.
In the opener, Richie Sexson, Eric Young, Geoff Jenkins and Royce Clayton homered to help Milwaukee to an 8-7 win, its first victory at Shea Stadium since Sept. 11, 2000.
Glavine (5-6) allowed five runs, four hits and five walks - one intentional - in one-plus innings.
Sheets (6-4) retired the first nine batters he faced and went more than seven innings for the third consecutive start.
Mike DeJean got his 13th and 14th saves of the season, pitching the ninth to close both wins. He gave up Tony Clark's two-run homer in the opener, his second pinch-hit shot of the season.
