HOUSTON - Wade Miller hit a two-run double and allowed three hits over seven innings to lead the Houston Astros over the St. Louis Cardinals 3-2 Tuesday night.
Adam Everett drove in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning, helping send St. Louis to its ninth loss in 14 games. Houston moved past St. Louis into sole possession of second place in the National League Central, 1 1/2 games behind division-leading Chicago, and dropped the Cardinals to 2-11 in one-run games.
Miller (2-5), whose only win in nine previous starts this season had been May 5 against Pittsburgh, struck out five and walked none.
Octavio Dotel pitched a hitless eighth, and Billy Wagner survived a shaky ninth to finish the four-hitter and get his 11th save in 12 chances this season.
St. Louis loaded the bases on Fernando Vina's leadoff single, Albert Pujols' one-out infield single and Scott Rolen's two-out walk, but pinch-hitter Edgar Renteria hit a game-ending groundout.
Garrett Stephenson (3-3), winless in six road starts, gave up three runs, six hits and four walks in six innings.
St. Louis went ahead in the first when Jim Edmonds tripled to the center-field hill and scored Rolen's groundout.
Miller, who was 4-for-16 with no RBI coming into the game, doubled for a 2-1 Houston lead in the second after singles by Brad Ausmus and Everett.
Pujols tied it in the fourth with his 12th homer, but the Astros went back ahead in the sixth when Richard Hidalgo singled, advanced on a grounder and scored without a throw on a single by Everett, who was 2-for-4.
Phillies 11, Mets 7
NEW YORK - Pat Burrell got Philadelphia going with a solo homer in the sixth inning and a tying shot in a seven-run seventh as the Phillies rallied from four runs down.
It was the second time in a week the Mets blew a big lead - they failed to hold onto a seven-run advantage in a 9-8 loss at Colorado last Tuesday. New York's relievers allowed 10 runs in three innings in their major league-leading 13th loss of the season - half of the team's total. The Mets' bullpen has a 5.68 ERA so far this season.
Expos 6, Marlins 4
MONTREAL - Brian Schneider homered and Orlando Cabrera hit a two-run double to key Montreal's four-run fourth inning. Javier Vazquez (4-2) won for the first time in five starts since April 24, and the Expos won for the sixth time in their last eight games.
Giants 6, Diamondbacks 5
PHOENIX - Barry Bonds and Rich Aurilia homered, Benito Santiago had a two-run double and Kirk Rueter threw seven scoreless innings before getting into big trouble in the eighth. The Giants blew a 6-0 lead but held on as Tim Worrell pitched a perfect ninth to get his 13th save in 15 opportunities this season.
Dodgers 3, Rockies 1
LOS ANGELES - Kevin Brown allowed three hits in seven innings, and Adrian Beltre's tiebreaking two-run single in the seventh helped Los Angeles extend its winning streak to a season-high five games. The Dodgers have won 16 of their last 22 and are a season-high five games over .500.
Brewers 8, Padres 7
MILWAUKEE - John Vander Wal homered in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Milwaukee the victory and send San Diego to its season-high seventh consecutive loss. The RBI was the 400th of Vander Wal's career.
