Reds vs. Braves series preview



When: Today, Wednesday, Thursday, 7:10 p.m.

Where: Great American Ball Park.

TV: Fox Sports Net, today and Thursday. ESPN2 Wednesday.

Radio: WLW (700 AM).

Records: Reds 22-22, fourth place in the National League Central. Braves 31-13, first place in the NL East.

The arms: Today - RHP Danny Graves (3-2, 4.56 ERA) vs. RHP Greg Maddux (3-5, 4.85); Wednesday - RHP John Riedling (0-2, 5.34) vs. LHP Mike Hampton (2-1, 3.25); Thursday - RHP Ryan Dempster (1-2, 6.85) vs. RHP Shane Reynolds (3-1, 4.99).

The bats: This is a dangerous lineup. Andruw Jones (10 homers, 40 RBI) and Gary Sheffield (.361, 10 homers, 38 RBI) are putting up big numbers.

Leadoff man Rafael Furcal is hitting .337 with a .394 on-base percentage. He's 9-for-9 in stolen bases.

Marcus Giles is hitting .338. Chipper Jones has seven homers and 29 RBI.

The rest: The Braves have won six of seven and are 27-5 after a 4-8 start. The Braves took four of six from the Reds last year, including two of three in Cincinnati.
