Baseball team rankings

1. New York Yankees: Can't shake the Red Sox.

2. Atlanta: Best record in NL, and Maddux is 3-5.

3. Boston: Pedro is being Pedro again. That's huge.

4. San Francisco: Getting swept by Expos is not good.

5. Oakland: Hudson, Mulder and Zito are good.

6. Seattle: Ichiro closing in on .300 after a slow start.

7. Montreal: The kings of sweeps. Five already this year.

8. Kansas City: Standing up to the Twins' charge so far.

9. Minnesota: Needed to do better than split with KC.

10. Chicago Cubs: Haven't missed a beat without Sammy.

11. Philadelphia: Hitting .246 as a team.

12. Houston: Best record vs. Central of the Central teams.

13. Los Angeles: Only sub-3.00 team ERA in the majors.

14. Reds: Are Dunn and Kearns the new 50-50 club?

15. Arizona: With the Big Two healthy, a charge is coming.

16. Chicago WS: Only Indians, Tigers hitting worse in the AL.

17. St. Louis: Cards will miss Marrero a lot.

18. Anaheim: Angels showed the Yankees they're dangerous.

19. Florida: Will that Old Jack Magic work in Miami?

20. Colorado: Early good pitching was a mirage.

21. Toronto: Very good hitting team, very bad pitching team.

22. Baltimore: Sliding toward Tampa Bay.

23. NY Mets: Rhymes with regrets, as in regrets spending.

24. Tampa Bay: Only 1 of first 16 wins by more than three runs.

25. Texas: Same record as Devil Rays - payroll is a bit more.

26. Pittsburgh: Just keep getting worse, and now Pokey's hurt.

27. Milwaukee: 24 Ks in one game. That's quite a thing.

28. Cleveland: Plenty of good seats available at the Jake.

29. San Diego: Starting pitching is just woeful.

30. Detroit: It's mid-May; Dmitri Young is hitting .230-something.
