Who's hot, who's not

Who's hot

Jack McKeon: The former Reds manager has returned to the dugout, replacing the fired Jeff Torborg as Florida Marlins boss. Many commentators had fun with the fact McKeon, 72, became the oldest manager in baseball history at the time of his hiring. But McKeon, 770-733 with Kansas City, Oakland, San Diego and Cincinnati, won three of his first four games as Marlins skipper.

Mike Lowell, Marlins: The third baseman, who hit 26 home runs last season, has 13 already this year, including two last Tuesday in San Diego.

The Oakland Athletics: The A's won their eighth straight series and 11th in their last 13 with Thursday's victory over Detroit.

Who's not

Cleveland Indians: With the Tribe's offense struggling, one upside is that their games have been a lot faster. How fast? The 2:28 rain delay Thursday night against the Mariners was just seven minutes shy of the Indians' average time for a nine-inning game this season. In Thursday's game, starter Jake Westbrook (left) and the Tribe lost 9-1.
