PHOENIX - The frustration boiled over for the Arizona Diamondbacks in another loss to Milwaukee. Curt Schilling struck out 10 in six innings but it wasn't enough as the Brewers beat the sputtering Diamondbacks 3-2 Saturday night.

Matt Kinney (1-1), Milwaukee's No. 5 starter who hadn't pitched in nine days, held the Diamondbacks to two runs on five hits through 5 2-3 innings to help the Brewers to their fourth victory in five games, all on the road. The right-hander struck out six and walked four.

"We're playing just bad enough to lose," Schilling said. "There's nothing you can do about it but show up tomorrow and (beat) somebody. That's the answer to it."

The Brewers beat Schilling and Randy Johnson on consecutive nights. The two Arizona aces are a combined 0-4 this season. No Diamondbacks starter has a win yet.

Arizona fell to 2-9, the worst record in the National League and its worst start since going 2-13 in its 1998 expansion season.

"I've been on teams that have pitched bad, that have struggled hitting, that have struggled defensively, that have had calls go against you, that have had breaks go against you," Schilling said. "But I've been on a team that's had it all happen at the same time over an extended period of time."

Diamondbacks slugger Luis Gonzalez and manager Bob Brenly were ejected in the seventh inning.

"We're a big league club. We're frustrated right now," Gonzalez said. "We were the champions only two years ago. We want to go out there and win some games and start playing better baseball."

Gonzalez was thrown out after a heated argument with plate umpire Derryl Cousins, who ruled Gonzalez went around for strike three to end the inning.

Brenly was tossed by first base umpire Mike DiMuro, who ruled that Eric Young was safe when third baseman Matt Williams' wide throw pulled Carlos Baerga off first on a bunt. The play loaded the bases with no outs in the seventh inning. Replays showed that Young appeared to be out.

"I just thought that was a call that hurt us right there," Brenly said. "Replays showed that he missed the call. I know these guys are trying to get them right, but that one hurt us."

Arizona escaped the jam when relievers Oscar Villarreal, Mike Myers and Mike Koplove struck out Richie Sexson, Geoff Jenkins and Jeffrey Hammonds, respectively.

The Brewers won despite striking out 15 times.

"If we can get pitching and defense, we'll win some ballgames," manager Ned Yost said.

Arizona stranded the tying run at second in the seventh and eighth innings. Mike De Jean got four outs for his third save.

"This is definitely a big, big confidence builder for us," Young said. "We knew it was going to be a tough game. He (Schilling) stops losing streaks. He came out and had some pretty good stuff, but we were able to put balls in play at key times and score some runs."

Tony Womack reached on a drag-bunt single to lead off the seventh and advanced to second on Baerga's sacrifice bunt. But reliever Valerio De Los Santos struck out David Dellucci, then a fuming Gonzalez, who had to be restrained by two Arizona coaches after being ejected.

Lyle Overbay singled and Chad Moeller walked with two outs in the eighth, but pinch-hitter Danny Bautisa grounded out to second.

Jenkins, a career-best 5-for-5 in Milwaukee's 11-7 victory over Johnson and the Diamondbacks on Friday night, singled in the go-ahead run in the fifth inning. Young had an RBI double and scored twice.

Schilling (0-2) allowed three runs, two earned, on four hits. Usually a master of control, he walked four and hit a batter. One of Milwaukee's runs came on Schilling's wild pitch.

He was lifted for a pinch-hitter after Chad Moeller singled to put runners at first and second with two outs in the sixth and the Diamondbacks trailing 3-2.

Mark Grace, who bats left-handed, was announced as the pinch-hitter, but after Milwaukee brought in left-handed reliever John Foster, right-handed hitter Junior Spivey pinch-hit for Grace. Spivey, in a 1-for-21 skid, flied out to end the inning.

Notes: Milwaukee has won consecutive road series for the first time since Aug. 17-23, 2001. ... After going 47-12 last season, Schilling and Johnson are winless after three starts apiece. ... Arizona is 1-4 at home, 1-5 on the road. Both wins came in extra innings. ... The Brewers have four left-handers in their bullpen. ... Brenly has been ejected six times in his two-plus seasons as Arizona's manager.
