Who's hot, who's not

HOT CORNER

Juan Pierre, Marlins: Set a Marlins record by hitting in each of his first 11 games to start the season and went into Saturday's games leading the majors in hits with 19 and stolen bases with five.

Zach Day, Expos: The former La Salle High School standout is off to a strong start in Montreal/San Juan's starting rotation. He's 1-1 with a 2.38 ERA and is scheduled to start today against the New York Mets in San Juan.

Carlos Delgado: Homered in three of four games last week and was third in the AL with 13 RBI through Friday.

NOT-SO-HOT CORNER

Red Sox Closer Committee: As any devoted Dilbert fan would tell you, very little good can come from committees. So check out these numbers going into Saturday's games: Alan Embree, 12.27 ERA; Chad Fox, 9.00; Bob Howry, 10.80; Mike Timlin, 4.70.

Indians batters: At least it's a balanced attack; the Tribe is hitting .206 against left-handers and .198 vs. right-handers going into the weekend.
