PHILADELPHIA - Kevin Millwood left after three innings because a strained right groin, but Philadelphia sent Pittsburgh to its first loss after a 4-0 start. Jimmy Rollins' five hits and three RBIs.

Millwood, one of Philadelphia's three key offseason acquisitions, was injured in his first home start. His status wasn't immediately known.

Carlos Silva (1-0) relieved Millwood and pitched 2 2-3 scoreless innings. Jeff D'Amico (0-1) gave up six runs - four earned - and eight hits in 4 1-3 innings in his Pirates debut.

Mets 3, Expos 1

NEW YORK - Tom Glavine (1-1) allowing one run and five hits in 5 2-3 innings to get his first win for New York and singled to spark a three-run rally. He had been hit hard in Monday's season-opening 15-2 loss to the Chicago Cubs.

Cliff Floyd, another of the Mets big offseason pickups, had three hits and an RBI to break out of a 1-for-15 slump. Armando Benitez got three outs for his second save.

Tony Armas Jr. (1-1) allowed three runs and six hits in five innings.

Giants 6, Brewers 5

MILWAUKEE - Benito Santiago hit his third homer as San Francisco improved to 5-0 for the second straight season. Milwaukee is 0-5 for the first time since 1984, when it finished last in the AL East.

Kurt Ainsworth (1-0) recorded his second major league victory, allowing three runs and six hits in six innings, and Scott Eyre retired John Vander Wal on a popup with two on for his first save since 2001 with Toronto.

Ben Sheets (0-1), Ainsworth's teammate on the 2000 U.S. Olympic team, gave up five runs and seven hits in seven innings. Ainsworth's other win was also over Sheets, last April 12.

Astros 2, Cardinals 1

ST. LOUIS - Brad Ausmus drove in the go-ahead run for the second straight game with a ninth-inning single.

Richard Hidalgo's RBI double off Jeff Fassero (0-1) with two outs in the ninth tied it as the Cardinals blew their first of three save chances without closer Jason Isringhausen, still recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.

Pete Munro (1-0) got the last out in the eighth, retiring pinch-hitter Albert Pujols on a groundout. Billy Wagner finished for his first save.

Rockies 4, Diamondbacks 3

DENVER - Preston Wilson hit an RBI double in the 10th inning off Miguel Batista (0-1).

Randy Johnson held Colorado hitless until the fifth. Jose Hernandez hit a solo homer and Jay Payton had a two-run shot, and Johnson departed after six innings with the score 3-all.

Steve Reed (1-0) pitched the 10th.

Marlins 17, Braves 1

ATLANTA - Greg Maddux, off to his worst start in 14 seasons, was pounded for three homers and nine runs in only two innings as the Florida Marlins routed the Atlanta Braves.

The Marlins got 23 hits and tied a team record for runs set on Sept. 17, 1995, against Colorado. The loss was the most lopsided for the Braves since a 17-1 defeat by Montreal on July 3, 2000.

Alex Gonzalez homered and drove in five runs with three hits. Juan Pierre, Ivan Rodriguez, Derrek Lee, Juan Encarnacion and Todd Hollandsworth also had three hits for Florida.

Maddux (0-2), who went 0-3 at the beginning of 1989 when he was with the Chicago Cubs, gave up eight hits and seven earned runs. He also was tagged for three homers in an inning for the first time in his career.

The four-time Cy Young winner has an 11.00 ERA after two starts. He also lost on opening day, giving up nine hits and four earned runs in seven innings against Montreal.

Florida starter Josh Beckett (1-1) went six innings.

Padres 3, Dodgers 0

SAN DIEGO - Brian Lawrence pitched eight sharp innings and the San Diego Padres won their third in a row, beating the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Lawrence (1-0) foiled a bid by Hideo Nomo (1-1) to earn his 100th career major league victory. Nomo, who shut out Arizona on opening day, had won eight straight decisions since last July 16.

Jesse Orosco, who turns 46 later this month, pitched a perfect ninth for a save. The Dodgers lost their third straight game.
