Sean Casey's head-first diving catch in foul territory during Friday's exhibition looked good. But it apparently hurt a little, too.
The Reds first baseman did not play in Saturday's exhibition after having X-rays and a bone scan performed on his right wrist.
Both tests showed no serious injury, and Casey is expected to be in the starting lineup against the Pirates on Monday.
"I think I just had so much adrenaline going last night that I didn't feel it until this morning," he said. "It didn't swell up. It was just really sore. It feels really good now."
In 22 games this spring, he batted .222 with two doubles, no homers and 7 RBI.
RETURN TRIP: Pitcher Paul Wilson arrived in Cincinnati Saturday.
Slowed during spring training by a strained rib-cage muscle and left hamstring, Wilson threw 5 2/3-innings in a minor-league game Friday.
"It was 100 percent better than my first time out," Wilson said. "I'm just building my arm strength up.
"My last two innings (Friday) were the best ones as far as velocity and location. I felt really comfortable."
He will return to Florida and pitch opposite Pete Harnisch in another minor-league game Tuesday before returning to Cincinnati prior to his scheduled start against the Cubs on Sunday.
CANCELED TRIP: Danny Graves, scheduled to start Friday against the Cubs, will pitch in a simulated game today at Great American Ball Park.
The right-hander originally was scheduled to fly to Florida and pitch in a minor-league game today, but plans were changed due to a rainy forecast in Sarasota.
OPENING DAY GUESTS: Daniel Rodriguez, a New York City policeman and tenor who gained national attention after Sept. 11, will perform the national anthem. Lee Greenwood also is scheduled to perform.
The Ohio Air National Guard's 179th Airlift Wing, based in Mansfield, will fly over the stadium.
ODDS AND ENDS: Reds bullpen coach Tom Hume turned 50 years old Saturday. ... The temperature at game time was 44 degrees.
