Yankees 10, Reds 5

The arms: Seth Etherton was not as good in his second start as he was in his first. He allowed three runs - two earned - on five hits in three innings.

Etherton allowed no runs on two hits in three innings his last time out.

Lance Davis followed Etherton and was racked for seven runs on nine hits in 21/3 innings.

Felix Heredia had his second straight strong outing, pitching 2 2/3 perfect innings.

The bats: The Reds were hitless until Ken Griffey Jr. hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning. The homer extended Griffey's hitting streak to eight games. He added an RBI double in the fifth. He's 11-for-22 with five homers and 12 RBI in the streak.

The rest: The Reds, thanks to an appearance by the Yankees, sold out Ed Smith Stadium for the second time this season.

Up next: The Reds make the four-hour trip to Fort Lauderdale to play the Baltimore Orioles. Chris Reitsma (0-2, 6.00 ERA) will start for the Reds. Players not on the trip get the day off. Players on the trip get Friday off.
