Reds 6, Devil Rays 5
THE ARMS: In his second official appearance this spring, Ryan Dempster pitched six innings and allowed three runs on eight hits. The right-hander allowed one run through the first five innings before the Devil Rays scored two in the sixth. . . . Jimmy Anderson, who entered Tuesday with an 11-inning scoreless streak, relieved Dempster and allowed one earned run on five hits over three innings. He got his first save of the spring. . . . Scott Sullivan, who has been bothered by tendinitis in his right middle finger, pitched an inning after the game ended.
THE BATS: Center fielder Ken Griffey Jr. extended his hitting streak to seven games with a solo homer to right-center in the sixth inning. He is batting .474 with five homers and 12 RBI during the streak. . . Left fielder Adam Dunn had a single, his third homer this spring, and three RBI. . . . Second baseman Aaron Boone doubled to right-center in the fifth inning.
THE REST: Tuesday's attendance was 3,256. . . . Reds starters have a 3.00 ERA in their past six games.
UP NEXT: The Reds host the Yankees at 7:05 p.m. at Ed Smith Stadium. The game is sold out. Seth Etherton (1-0, 0.00 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Reds. Mike Mussina (0-1, 7.20) will start for the Yankees.
