WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The Reds got one of those "uh-oh" moments of spring training Tuesday in their 4-2 victory against the Cleveland Indians. Barry Larkin was struck on the right elbow with a pitch from Ricardo Rodriguez. It looked for a moment as though it could be serious. Larkin backed away from the plate with his arm motionless.
But it was only a scare.
"He's going to be OK," trainer Mark Mann said. "His strength is good. Flexibility is good. He wasn't scheduled to go to Dunedin (today), so he'll get treatment."
Larkin said the ball hit bone. "But I don't think it's serious," he said.
No X-rays were taken. Larkin will be evaluated by medical director Dr. Tim Kremchek on Thursday.
