NASVHILLE, Tenn. - Right-hander Jared Fernandez was released Sunday by the Cincinnati Reds, reducing their roster to 37 entering the winter meetings draft.
Fernandez, a 30-year-old knuckleballer, was 1-3 with a 4.44 ERA in eight starts and six relief appearances for the Reds last season. He was 12-5 with a 3.93 ERA in 18 starts and eight relief appearances for Triple-A Louisville.
He has a 1-4 major league career record and 4.43 ERA in 19 games.
