Marty Brennaman and Joe Nuxhall are world-class needlers and lovers of gags. Each will go to great lengths to get the other. So what is Nuxie's favorite Marty story and vice versa (family newspaper version, of course)?
Marty on Joe:
"We're playing the Braves in old Fulton County Stadium. Pascual Perez is pitching against the Reds and just shuts them down. Joe says to me toward the end of the game when it's clear Pascual Perez is star of the game: `What kind of English does he speak?'

"I say, `He speaks the king's English. It's unbelievable how well he speaks.' He brought him on the air and it was bad. You could understand about every seventh word. It was awful. Joe was steaming."
Joe on Marty:
"In an article in Sports Illustrated, I said Marty reads while I'm on the air. (Then general manager) Dick Wagner chewed us out about it. I told the engineer one night in Montreal, `When I go on air in the third inning, I'll put my hand behind my head. When I do, turn everything off.' He did. I turned and said: `Hey, Marty, how's that book you're reading?' He almost fell out of his chair."
