MOUNT ORAB - Pete Rose will sign autographs and take batting practice at Western Brown High School Sunday as part of a fund-raiser to help pay for improvements to the school's Gary Waits Baseball Stadium.
Doors at the high school, 472 W. Main St., will open 1 p.m. Mr. Rose and Mr. Waits will sign pictures of themselves only or baseballs that will be available for purchase, beginning at 2 p.m.
After the signing, Mr. Waits, a Mount Orab High School graduate who was a bullpen catcher for the Cincinnati Reds from 1970 to 1980, will pitch batting practice to Mr. Rose, weather permitting.
There will be food available and a celebrity auction at 3 p.m. with items from Loretta Lynn and George Foster, among others. Mr. Red will be there.
Admission is $5, and $3 for students. Children under 5 are admitted free.
Improvements to the 140-seat stadium include new dugouts, bleachers, backstops and painting, said Tim Cook, athletic director.
