Reds release Silva

The Cincinnati Enquirer

The Reds released oft-injured right-hander Jose Silva Wednesday. He spent most of the season healing from bouts with shoulder tendinitis and elbow bone chips, which had to be surgically removed.

He had only 12 appearances with the Reds (1-0, 4.24 ERA).

In other moves, the Reds reinstated right-handed pitchers Luis Pineda and Seth Etherton from the 60-day disabled list. Five other Reds were reinstated from the 15-day DL: first baseman Sean Casey, right fielder Austin Kearns, left-handed reliever Gabe White, catcher Jason LaRue and third baseman Brandon Larson.
